Ellinor Eriksson – Nordic candidate for Vice President of ECOSY
Ellinor Eriksson, Secretary General and long-standing board member of SSU, the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League, hereby announces her candidacy for Vice President of ECOSY. Ellinor is one of the two Nordic candidates, having been officially endorsed by FNSU, the association of Nordic social democratic youth organisations.
– I am both glad and honoured to be the Nordic candidate for Vice President of ECOSY. I am eager to start working for political change, in the European Parliament. Starting with the upcoming elections, where I am confident that my long and wide experience of organising political campaigns in Sweden could be of great benefit to ECOSY, says Ellinor Eriksson.
– The financial crisis has delivered a terrible blow to the young generation across Europe, causing extreme youth unemployment and redundancy. I am sure that ECOSY can play an important role in reversing these developments and restoring hope and optimism to the young people in Europe, Ellinor Eriksson continues.
Ellinor Eriksson is 25 years old and has been active in SSU more than ten years. During this time she has been responsible, on a national level, for a wide range of issues, including education, business and enterprise, LGBT rights and youth unemployment. In August 2011, Ellinor Eriksson was elected Secretary General of SSU, the highest organisational rank in the youth league. Before she became Secretary General, Ellinor Eriksson studied to become a psychologist at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading medical universities.
– For far too long Europe has been governed by failed right wing politics. In the elections of 2014 Europe has the opportunity to choose another way. To achieve this, we, the young social democrates, need to be organised. I hope I will be given the chance to be a part of this movement for change, says Ellinor Eriksson.
